State of Texas: $270K grant ensures compatible energy siting for statewide military installations and ranges

Program:

Installation Resilience

As a result of a $270K OLDCC Compatible Use investment, the State of Texas developed a tool to de-conflict the siting of energy projects with the test, training, and military operations for 15 military installations, 11 of which are currently affected by wind energy development.  The tool is a resource for industry, public officials, landowners, and stakeholders to make better-informed decisions on the siting of energy projects statewide.  Texas produces the most wind power of any state and through this OEA effort, additional statewide legislation is being considered to ensure future energy projects are compatible with the military missions, operations, and training.
