Enables a New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Partnership led project to strengthen the supply chain capability of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Armaments Center, which accounts for 90% of the Army's lethality and all conventional ammunition for joint warfighters. The New Jersey Consortium will focus on workforce training, retraining, and recruitment and retention, with a unique emphasis on engaging veterans and military personnel and their family members. Five new registered apprenticeships will be established and over 1,200 individuals will complete industry-valued training. The project will identify opportunities for nontraditional defense manufacturing firms to fill key advanced manufacturing technology needs. Fiscal Year 2022 Award

Enables an SAE Government Technologies led project to conduct the rapid testing, demonstration, and validation of a framework to accelerate the development of domestic critical mineral supply chains. Through the implementation of new modular, advanced, and highly selective separation technologies, the consortium will utilize mine and industrial waste to build a fully capable domestic supply chain and trained workforce that requires no new mining and no foreign processing. The project will achieve a sustainable manufacturing supply chain for scandium within three years in the five-state region of Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
