Our Programs

The Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation provides technical and financial assistance to state and communities that are eligibility-based, needs-base, and competitive that enhance the capabilities and readiness of our national defense mission.

The Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation’s programs of assistance help states and communities strengthen critical relationships with Department of Defense’s assets and installations and help further the readiness and lethality of our military installations in support of our warfighters.

Community Noise Mitigation Program

The Community Noise Mitigation Program is a competitive grant program designed to assist state, local governments and tribal entities impacted by military fixed-wing aviation noise – to include those impacted by both active and guard/reserve installations.

Defense Community Infrastructure Program

The Defense Community Infrastructure Program is a competitive grant program designed to address deficiencies in community infrastructure that can/does support a military installation’s readiness and lethality.

Defense Manufacturing Community Support Program

The Defense Manufacturing Community Support Program is a competitive grant program designed to support long-term community investments that strengthen national security innovation and expand the capabilities of the defense manufacturing industrial ecosystem.

Installation Readiness

The Installation Readiness program helps states and communities work with local military installations to address civilian encroachment or threats to installation readiness that could impact the military's operations and mission.

Mission Realignment

The Mission Realignment Program assists state and local governments in planning and carrying out community adjustments and economic diversification in response to the proposed or actual realignment, or closure of a military installation that is likely to have a direct and significantly adverse consequence on the affected community.

Public Schools on Military Installations

The Public Schools on Military Installations program funds projects to address condition and capacity issues.
